Bringing the outside in

Last post was in November. It is now January, almost February. Thankgiving, Christmas, New years Eve, my Weddingmoon in Hawaii with my perfect Husband Henry, my mum visited and a weekend in LA have all gone by. Now what? One more month until spring. Opening windows again for a breeze. A bit more sunshine and light. Shedding the layers. Feeling awake again. One sure way to bring Spring into a home ahead of time is to bring the outside in. Be one with nature. Be part of the world again instead of the inside of your living room.

When I think of Spring I conjure up images probably from when I was six and read stories about little girls doing their chores, skipping down a sunny street, white picket fences, a soft breeze, having lunch outdoors with eating freshly picked garden grown herbs and napping in the afternoon in a cozy breezy spot. Oh how idyllic!

I went on a mad mission to buy lots of plants for the house. Did you know plants add a touch of natural energy indoors? They also provide healthier air environments. Psychologicaly they are calming and reduce stress. Most importantly they soften the room and add colour.

This mid century ranch has used plants to decorate otherwise boring corners of the room. The use of the natural materials adds to this light and fresh feel.

This room is so simple but manages to make you feel like you are sitting in a garden.

Growing your own vegetables and herbs is so easy and so satisfying. Take advantage of extra sunlight hours to eat more homegrown produce.

Revamp your living room/ kitchen by bringing outdoor furniture in as seen in housebeautiful.com. These french chairs are on my list. Bright cushions make them look even more inviting.

Handpicked flowers from the garden provide an natural aroma and boy are they bright!

My godmother used to change her curtains for each season. A wonderful way to let the light in the spring time and watch the breeze dance with the lighter fabric.

Feel the sun on your face, grab a good book, open the window and breathe....Zzzzzzzzzzzzz
